“The story of Abraham in the Bible is possibly my favorite Bible story. Being named after him is something I’m very proud of and grateful for. This past summer I needed a break from painting and I began to walk around my yard.Subconsciously while looking at the sky, I began reciting to myself the words of Genesis 15 that I’ve memorized… “the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless. And He brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.”I became aware that my subconscious paraphrased meditation would make a good painting. I went in and drew my ideaout and then worked on it for the next few weeks. These words God said to Abraham have helped me believe in my pathand trust my Creator in the storms I face inwardly. It is a great honor to have been blessed with the ability to paint my hero, and I hope you enjoy this very personal work.”
